Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council has welcomed $791,000 in funding from the Queensland Government’s Secure Communities Partnership Program to support the installation of CCTV and critical precinct lighting across the township.

The program, which is delivering $40 million over three years across Queensland, provides councils and small businesses with resources to deter crime, improve safety, and foster stronger, more resilient communities.

Hope Vale Mayor Bruce Gibson expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the funding. “Hope Vale Council is sincerely appreciative of the approval of $791,000 by the Crisafulli Government to help Council install CCTV across its township as well as providing for critical precinct lighting,” he said.

“I would also like to extend my Council’s thanks to Minister Steve Minnikin for his role in making this funding available.”

“Whilst Hope Vale is a community that is welcoming people back, it is no different to any other community that suffers from minor crime and vandalism and this funding will go a long way to securing the safety of our community and providing an environment that people will participate in and enjoy.”

“The $40 million, that has been made available over 3 years as part of this governments Secure Communities Partnership Program, will go a long way to providing for a commonsense range of deterrents that will grow our community as a safe place for our older residents and develop a lifestyle that is family focused and child friendly.”

“I commend all who have been involved in this program.”
